About Edel

Edel graduated with a degree in Finance from UCC. Her corporate career started in KPMG where qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA). From there, Edel moved into Academia and professional education where she held senior lecturer and examinership roles within the professional accountancy bodies.
She lectured the advanced papers of Taxation and Finance for the ACCA, CPA, ACA and IATI. She lectured at an Undergraduate, Post-Graduate and Masters level.

Edel worked as a lecturer for nine years primarily in the areas of finance, accounting, and taxation. Throughout this period, she taught and mentored a diverse range of students from school leavers to mature students, to international students and professional accountancy students. She has spent time in China lecturing international students in the areas of accounting, tax, and finance.

Edel is highly experienced in the student assessment and exams. As part of her post-graduate diploma in Higher Education much of her research focussed on the impact of closed booked assessment on professional accountants. She worked as examiner for a professional accountancy body where she wrote exam papers for professional exams and corrected thousands of exam papers.

In 2017 Edel moved into Talent and Leadership Development, which took her to work at EY where she held a Senior Talent Development Leadership position. It was here Edel trained to become a personal leadership and executive coach. She set up an internal coaching program which supported trainee accountants through their professional exams. She coached lower and middle management executives moving from graduate to management/senior management positions.

In 2022, Edel set up her own business, Edel Walsh Coaching and Consulting. Edel’s award winning business empowers accounting and tax professionals to achieve exam success, foster career growth and excel beyond.

Edel is passionate about connecting and collaborating with people in a deep and meaningful way that stimulates and encourages them to live their best life both professionally and personally.
